I Write to Remember- Poetry

I write to Remember _ The Fear of Forgetting
Such a beautiful man. My dad's birthday is tomorrow. He was born 1/12/47- an amazing jack of all trades. I fear that I am forgetting him. I must write to remember this man who was such a major influence in my life. I believe he is the next room, another world if you will. I do not believe that death is final, and that I am just to heavy with forgetfulness to know him in his other form. I love him and miss him with all my heart, and thus I will not let him go. So I am so grateful of this virtual world where I can pay tribute to such a beautiful soul. He was my lighthouse and still is. Life is a strange thing, making us so emotionally tied in to some souls. It is a grand and powerful mystery the relationships that form throughout the eons. And so it is.

The Lighthouse
As a lighthouse stands
So does the storm cometh
horizons beckon
Ships cross unknown boundaries
Sailors strive
Souls shatter
and return
Listening always for the foghorn
to blow.
Some let the light go from
their heart like they
have hidden elements burning deep inside.
Light is not an easy thing to bear
Even though it is a natural element
of the soul.
I was a ship sailing
tired and lost in the
fog of my ignorance
his belief came in the form
of a ray.
A lighthouse stands on
the edge of Earth and sea
surrounded forever by
unforgiving ships, who don't
see the light.
Some become lost in their own storm.
Often I scaled up his solid stairs
only to sit near his wisdom
knowing always he was just as broken
as me.
But his tower seemed higher and
I wanted to reach up to where his spirit
dwelt soaring, gazing the sea for
lost ships.
As the light circles, and foghorns blow
shadows followed the long
Eminent and lucid beam
Even when the storm of illusion reigned high
Never did his light cease to flow.
